I have hiked Sope Creek three times now with my good friend and fellow photographer, Joseph Wood from Favortied.xyz, and it seems like we step into a different realm every time we’re there. The weather changed from sunny blue skies to tornado warnings in two seconds the last time we were there, and we got completely soaked.
After the rain and crazy winds finally stopped, we made our way back down to the creek, and that is when I captured the photo below. Right after a bad storm passes when all of the foliage and trees are really wet, THAT is when you get the colors that start to “pop” and add an ethereal look to the photograph. However, always make sure to use your polarizer when you’re shooting wet surfaces to mitigate the terrible glare and refections that happen.
One of my favorite aspects of photography is that one scene can look completely different based simply on how mother nature decides to react. When it comes to photography, light is everything…
