Opryland Hotel And Resort
December of 2015 was my first visit to the Opryland Hotel, and it definitely took me by surprise. The hotel had tons of waterfalls, around 20 restaurants, offered riverboat rides, and was within walking distance of the historic Grand Ole Opry. Needless to say, it was very hard to fit all of this beauty and excitement into one photograph. As a matter of fact, I went out of my way to make sure I didn’t fit it all into one photograph. I believe that one of the biggest mistakes people make when documenting cool places is zooming their lens to the widest angle and trying to fit everything into one “crowded” looking image.
In my opinion, one of the most important things a photographer can give to his/her viewers is a feeling. Yes, it might sound strange. However, think about why you have certain framed photographs or paintings throughout your home. It had to have given you a feeling or made you think of a meaningful memory. Now you’re starting to see what goes into making a great photograph or piece of art. We do a lot of work to make sure that the way we compose the photograph expresses the feeling of the scene that made us so happy to take our camera out of the bag to begin with. Let that sink in for a bit 🙂
Have a wonderful week!
